Roxboro Sharks: S.H.A.R.K. Awards for Everyone!

    Dear Sharks,

S.H.A.R.K. Awards for everyone! This summer’s swim team season had numerous examples of good Sportsmanship, really Hardworkers, great Attitude, Respect for others, and unending Kindness.

S is for Sportsmanship: We had over 150 registered Sharks and every one of them demonstrated good sportsmanship in the water and on the deck. They cheered and encouraged their fellow Sharks. They worked hard for personal improvement in the water. We saw a number of Roxboro records set this season. We finished the season with a 3-2 record and received another great big 3rd place trophy for our division. We took 44 Sharks to the ASA Divisionals at Georgia Tech, scoring 7th overall highest points for all teams; and 14 Sharks returned for the ASA Finals. Stop by SharkBites this summer and pick up any ribbons, awards or pictures from the season. Thank you.

H is for Hardworker: Our coaches worked hard every day. Head Coach Jennifer Clifton, Assistant Coach Will Horlock, Jr Coach Jack Butler, Jr Coach Claire Denning, Jr Coach Jenya Eppstein, Jr Coach Olivia Hare, Jr Coach Carol Clair Horlock, Jr Coach Bo Maiellaro, Jr Coach Avery Bargeron, Jr Coach Jacqueline Cunningham, Jr Coach Evelyn Hunter, Jr Coach Sophie Peck, and Jr Coach Zac Walpole. These coaches worked every day with enthusiasm and professionalism to help every swimmer improve their skills and enjoy the water. Thank you.

A is for Attitude: Thank you for the great cooperative attitude from all our parents, families and community. Parent and family volunteers served before, during and after every meet and we could not have done it without you. A very special thanks to those super volunteers that worked the statistics table, volunteer check in, parking lot coordinator, announcer, concession stand logistics, pop-up tent transport, and equipment repair. It takes a whole lot of volunteers to deliver a safe, fun and rewarding swim team season. Thank you.

R is for Respect: Ms. Nina Vestal, all the RVA lifeguards, and our RVA Board have my highest regard and respect. They continue to support our swim team and provide so much more than many other swim teams receive. We have a pool with some of the best equipment and amenities available. We are a strong community that is able and willing to support a swim team opportunity for our children. Roxboro Sharks continue to be respected in the ASA League as a strong team with great hospitality and fantastic volunteers. Thank you.

K is for Kindness: Kindness starts at home and knows no boundaries. The coaches and I are so thankful for the incredibly generous end of season gifts. Even more incredible, your Sharks swam over 2000 laps and raised over $1000 for Swim Across America, to directly benefit the Aflac Cancer Center at Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta. Again, Kindness starts at home and knows no boundaries. Thank you.

Thank you again for this wonderful season. It was truly my honor and privilege to serve you and your SHARKS.

    With deepest gratitude,

    Jennifer Entrekin
