Home meet June 4 vs Brittany Club, HS Seniors, date change for ASA Divisional

    Hello Sharks,

Wow! What a perfect first meet of the season! I am so proud of our swimmers and coaches. I am so thankful for all our volunteers. I am delighted that we won. But most of all, I am so very pleased that everyone did their part and more, and we made sure our swimmers and families had a fun, safe and happy meet experience. Dunwoody CC was especially complimentary and thankful for all that we did to provide our visitors an equally wonderful experience. One of the executives from the Atlanta Swim Association League office was there (as a parent to a DCC Dolphin), and he commented that ASA never worries about Roxboro. They always have full confidence that we are doing a great job at hosting a swim meet. Thank you all for your part in confirming this to him first hand.

Our next meet is at HOME vs Brittany Club. Please log in right now and signup your swimmer(s) and go ahead and select a volunteer job. Roxborosharks.swimtopia.com You can signup ahead of time for all of our remaining meets if you know your schedule. Please remember, signups for the upcoming meet closes promptly at 11:30pm on Friday night.

Since this is our last home meet of the season, we will celebrate our HS Seniors with a special “Senior Swim” and a pizza party after the meet. Plan to stay an extra hour and swim under the lights at Roxboro. We will have complimentary pizza for everyone after the meet.

You all did a great job observing the parking guidelines and rules on Tuesday night. Please remember to keep the outgoing side of Roxboro Dr open for all pool events. Thank you.

Please remember that all of Roxboro Valley Association rules apply to swim team events. NO glass containers should ever be brought into the pool area. Even if you think it will stay in your cooler and you will pour into a plastic cup, please don’t do it. NO glass.

Some important information regarding our ASA Divisional. Due to circumstances out of the control of ASA, they had to make a late change to the divisional schedules. This 2019 summer season will only consist of divisional swim meets at GaTech and NO Saturday finals. There was a lot of consideration at ASA, input from all coaches and managers, and negotiations with GaTech resulting in this decision. The biggest impact it has on Roxboro, is that our ASA Divisional has been moved to WEDNESDAY June 26 at 9am. Our website and calendar have been updated. Please make note to your own calendars. I apologize if this creates any conflict or additional complications for you. ASA prides itself on being a summer league that welcomes and celebrates every level of swimmer. To that point, every registered swimmer is eligible to swim in the divisional meet at GaTech. Some swimmers go with hopes of finishing in the top 10, against over 100 swimmers in one event. Some swimmers go with dreams of swimming in the “big pool” at GaTech, the same place the Olympians swam in 1996 and some of today's Olympians are training for 2020 in Tokyo. Some swimmers go just for the cool t-shirt they can purchase at the meet. We all have our reasons for going, thankfully we all have the option to go.

As always, if you have any questions, please ask me.

    Roxboro Sharks Swim Team Manager
