ASA Divisionals at GaTech on Wednesday June 26

    Parents,

This email is full of information regarding our upcoming ASA Divisionals at GaTech on Wednesday June 26.

PARKING:  There is a lot of construction on campus this summer resulting in a greater than usual parking challenge.  My best advice, if you and your swimmers are willing to try an Uber, now is your chance.  To pre-pay for your parking please visit the following link https://gatech.parkmobile.io/ Carpooling is always encouraged.

Parking is a little different this year. Only prepaid parking will be allowed in the W10 and W02 Student Center decks which are located closest to the pool. If you do not pay in advance you will have to park in W23 - North Deck located much farther away from the pool and it will cost you more money.

Buy your Parking NOW at https://gatech.parkmobile.io/ Only buy the day you need and make sure you select the correct day (Roxboro swims Day 1). The cost for the advance passes is $10 plus service fee. Day of parking will cost $15 cash/or credit card.

ARRIVAL TIME:  Our team has been assigned a warmup time of 7:50-8:10am.  This is really early for some of our swimmers.  If you think your swimmer will benefit from more sleep vs warmup laps, that is your decision.  If you choose to skip warmups, please plan to arrive no later than 8:20am.  The meet will start promptly at 9am.  Please do not be late!  You will have to send your child down to our team area on deck.  I will have a blue "Roxboro Sharks" banner taped to the wall behind our team to help you spot us.  Swimmers and coaches ONLY are allowed to use the stairwell at the end of the spectator seating near the boys competition pool.  Parents will not be allowed to use these stairs.  Again, no parents will be allowed on deck this year.

TEAM SEATING:  We have been assigned team seating on the deck.  This is ONLY for the swimmers and coaches.  This year, NO parents will be allowed on deck for any reason.  I will be on deck for the entire meet.  We are taking all of our coaches and their primary responsibility is the swimmers.  We will walk all of our 12 and under swimmers to the bullpens to line up for their races.  We will wait for all of our 12 and under swimmers to finish their races and bring them back to the team seating area.  We will bring all of our 12 and under swimmers back upstairs to meet with parents after their final races.  I encourage you to pack everything your swimmer will need in their bag/backpack.  Towels, goggles, cap, snacks, water bottle, activities or other entertainment such as cards or coloring.  We are not responsible for anything valuable or breakable.  Please only pack what your swimmer needs.

TWO COMPETITION POOLS:  The boys will swim in the pool to the far left of the aquatic center, the girls will swim in the center pool.

VOLUNTEERS:  We have been assigned some volunteer jobs this year.  We need to provide two timers for the Boys Competition Pool.  This will be the only way for any parents to be on deck.  You will be working as a timer, but you will be on deck and close to the action.  If you are willing and able, please send me an email [email protected] before midnight Monday.  Ideally, if we can get four volunteers, we can split the morning in half for you all.  Thank you!

COMMUNICATION during the meet:  My cell number is 404-345-5570.  I will be the first Shark there and the last Shark to leave. It is very hard to hear and talk on deck during the meet, so please text me if you need me.

And finally, these reminders from our league director:

Team, this is from our league director regarding updated and new rules that will be enforced at the ASA Divisionals and Finals next week. Please read carefully. Our team seating area has been assigned to on deck this year.  The team and coaches will sit together. Parents are welcome to sit in the spectator seating. Please also see the attached document with additional rules from the staff at GaTech Aquatic Center. Thank you.

Full info on the meet can be found at http://atlantaswimming.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Championship-Info-19.pdf as well as in the ASA rule book. You can find further info on the meet as well at http://atlantaswimming.com/swim-leagues/atlanta-swim-association-home/championship/ .

Most importantly I want to highlight rules and regulations for Georgia Tech and the Campus Recreation Center. Please be sure to pass these along to your families, as we want to be gracious guests during the meet. Important points of emphasis this year regard keeping the aisle ways clear of spectators, this includes the area behind disabled seating on the lower level of the spectator gallery. I know this is a familiar spot for many parents to watch the meet, but we are under specific instruction from the fire marshal to keep that area clear. Also, deck access will be limited to credentialed people only (coaches, athletes, meet workers, and credentialed team personnel only). Parents who try to wander onto the deck will be prohibited from doing so and those who don't follow those instructions will be removed from the facility. Your cooperation with these rules and the instructions of the event staff and CRC staff are very important to allowing us to continue to host our championship at Georgia Tech.
