Roxboro Sharks / thank you and "We Are Back!"

    Dear Roxboro Sharks,

Thank you all for the most incredible 2021 Summer Swim Team season. It was a season I will never forget, and I thank you each for being a part of it. In April 2020, we had to make the most difficult decision to suspend the summer swim team season. I was tearful and fearful. Like so many of you, I was deeply saddened by the void left by no summer swim team. But most of all, I was afraid we would never recover from taking a year off.

Well, “WE ARE BACK!” In numbers: 195 swimmers; 13 coaches, 5 meets, 1,000+ hotdogs and hamburgers, 1,200 munchkins, 1,800 laps for CHoA, … the numbers keep going and they always circle back to 1 very thankful Swim Team Manager.

But even more amazing than the numbers, “WE ARE BACK!” in fun, fast swimming, and fellowship. Roxboro Sharks are stronger than ever. I can’t thank you enough for all that you each have done to renew the community of Roxboro Sharks summer swim team.

I am thankful to the RVA Board of Directors that always supports our team with a well-maintained facility. I am thankful to the Roxboro Lifeguards and their constant watch to make sure we are safe on the deck and in the water. I am thankful to those behind-the-scenes persons that never say no to any of my requests for help. I am thankful to our coaching staff (Head Coach Jesse Lewis, Assistant Coach Avery Bargeron, Assistant Coach Zac Walpole, Jacqueline Cunningham, William Carnegie, Noah Daniels, Evelyn Entrekin, Eli MacLane, Matthew Maiellaro, Thomas Maiellaro, Parsa Pedram, Nellie Philips, and Aidan Schettino) that met every swimmer with a smile, encouragement, and skilled instruction to help every one of our Sharks have fun, get stronger, and develop a love for swimming as a recreation, a summer sport, or maybe even a year-round opportunity. I am thankful to those returning parents that engaged and welcomed our new parents and helped them navigate summer swim team. I am thankful to those new parents that entrusted us with their swimmers. I am thankful that Roxboro Sharks can say “WE ARE BACK!”

    Thank you,

    Jennifer Entrekin
