Roxboro Sharks / signup for meet#4, LapAThon, and ASA Championship entry deadline

    Hello Sharks!

WOW! It is hot out there! I am super thankful to all the volunteers that helped us at our amazing swim meet#3 vs Redfield Sun Devils. We won the meet by a score of 444 to 314. But even more important, we saw a lot of personal best times and new attempts at new events. We celebrated our five high school graduates with their traditional and very creative Senior Swim. Congratulations to William Carnegie, Noah Daniels, Nellie Phillips, Brooks O'Donnell, and Meg Sabo.

Signup your swimmers and select a volunteer job for meet#4 at Hampton Hall on Tuesday June 21. I have added two special volunteer positions for this meet. It is forecasted to be another super hot day and I want to be sure we keep our coaches and volunteers hydrated. I will be bringing large coolers with ice and drinks for the coaches and volunteers. I am asking for two volunteers per shift to help pass those waters out.

Tomorrow is Friday June 17, and we have MiniMeet#3 for our 6U’s at their regular practice time 8-8:30am.

Next Thursday June 23 we will swim our annual LapAThon with Swim Across America supporting the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Our Sharks have been getting stronger every practice and this special practice will give us an opportunity to use our strong bodies to help those children and families fighting the battle against childhood cancer. Please don't worry if your swimmer only swims a few laps per practice, every single lap counts and we will celebrate every swimmer with treats and prizes.  This year we have a fundraising page with Swim Across America. Please make a donation and consider allowing your swimmer to ask other family and friends to also contribute on their behalf.

The ASA Timed Finals Championship is coming up. This is our big championship meet at the Georgia Tech Natatorium. Roxboro Sharks have been assigned to the Thursday June 30, morning session. For those that haven’t been to this meet before, it is BIG. Anyone that is on the team can swim. We allow parents to select two individual events for their swimmers. Pending signup numbers, Coach William will make the relay lineups. Not everyone is guaranteed to swim a relay. It is important that you meet your commitment to be there if you sign up. Expect to arrive at GaTech at approximately 8am and the session will not end until at least noon. Plan to spend the full morning there. You may pack a cooler that will fit under your stadium seat with snacks, food, and drinks. Signups are now open and due by 11:30pm on Wednesday June 22. There will not be any opportunities for late entries. I know this is a lot to consider for those of you that have not been to an ASA Championship meet at GaTech, so please send me an email with your questions or see me on the pool deck during any of our practices.

    Thank you,

    Jennifer Entrekin
