Hello Sharks!

As I sit here poolside for our last game day of the season, I am thankful for an incredible group of coaches, swimmers, parents and families. I am equally thankful for a fantastic pool facility and dedicated Board of Directors. Thank you everyone for making Roxboro Sharks one of the best summer swim teams in Atlanta.

We had a wonderful evening with our friends the Hampton Hall Waves. The score was so close, in fact it was so close we had to do the league required re-count to verify the score. In the end, Hampton Hall won by just 6 points. Many thanks to all the volunteers, especially the ones that were constantly making ice cold water bottles available to the coaches and volunteers.

Below is a copy of the note sent from Kay Alexander about season end gifts for Coach William, Noah, Evelyn, Nellie, Asa, Kate, Mary, Virginia Jane, Libby and Grogan. The coaches love handwritten notes and pictures from the swimmers, too!

“Hello Sharks! It’s already time to think about the end of swim season with our last meets next week. As a thank-you to Coach William and the wonderful, committed team of coaches I’m collecting money for a gift for them to be given at the team party next Thursday. No pressure to give, but if you’d like to contribute you can Venmo me: @Kay-Alexander or bring cash to the meet this Tuesday or next. I will be at the volunteer sign-in table. Looking ahead, meet entries for the ASA League Championship are DUE TODAY, Wednesday June 22 before 11:30pm. There will be absolutely no opportunity for late entries from Roxboro. Please make sure to signup your swimmers if you plan to swim this meet. The meet is on Thursday June 30. We are assigned the morning session. Swimmers may select their two individual events. Coach William will assign relays if there are enough swimmers per age group.

Tomorrow, Thursday June 23 is our annual Roxboro Sharks LapAThon with Swim Across America supporting the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. This is a great opportunity for our Sharks to use their strong bodies to help other children and families fighting childhood cancer. We will have music playing to keep us energized and treats for swimmers at the end of their practice sessions. Thursday June 23 is our last evening practice of the season.

Friday, June 24 is our final 6U MiniMeet of the season at 8am.

Friday June 24 at 11:30pm, entries for our final meet#5 are due. We swim on MONDAY June 27 at Georgetown. Again, this meet is on MONDAY evening, not our usual Tuesday.

We will have our last full team morning practice on Monday June 27 and a meet on Monday evening.

Tuesday June 28 and Wednesday June 29 we will run practices for ONLY those swimmers signed up to swim at GaTech. More details to come.
