Hello Sharks,

Wow! What a great first week of practices for our 2023 Roxboro Sharks! We have some dedicated Sharks out there and they show up for practices rain or shine. We do our best to get a full practice schedule in but sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate. We follow the same guidelines the Roxboro lifeguards follow and close the water for 30 minutes at the sound of thunder. Last night our coaches got creative and led the Sharks in some high energy dryland workouts. We want to keep our Sharks happy and engaged in swim team and try very hard not to send them home disappointed or discouraged.

Our meet schedule is finalized and posted to our website. Our first meet is Tuesday May 30 at Roxboro. The RSVP or “Meet Entry” for swimmers and Job Signups for parents and families are open now. The RSVP for swimmers will close on May 26 at 11:30pm. Our coaches work very hard to build a competitive lineup for our meets. Lineups are exchanged between teams days before the meet so that both teams can prepare for a safe and welcoming meet for all swimmers and families. This includes volunteers, lifeguards, concessions, parking, and many other behind the scenes preparations. Please be aware of the signup deadlines as we are not able to make exceptions and add swimmers after the deadline.

Swim meets take a lot of volunteers. It is expected that every family will volunteer to work. If your swimmer is swimming in a meet, you are volunteering at that meet. We have a lot of jobs and I am certain you will find one that fits your personality and comfort level.

For HOME swim meets, Sharks arrive at 4pm, warmups at 4:30pm, meet starts promptly at 5:30pm.
