Hello Sharks!

Tomorrow, May 30, 2023 is our first meet of the season at Roxboro vs Brittany Club. This email is full of information. I am asking you to please read it completely.

The pool and the parking lot close at 3pm on meet days. The coaches and I will work hard and fast to reset the pool deck for a swim meet. Please do not attempt to enter the parking lot or pool deck prior to 3:45pm. If you park in the parking lot, you will be asked to move your car. The parking lot is reserved parking only. If you require handicapped parking, please email me asap. All parking for swimmers and spectators will be along our neighborhood streets. City of Atlanta Police help us with our traffic and parking. See attached parking map.

Our on deck or arrival time for home meets is 4:00pm. We will markup the swimmers with their events. Our in water warmup session is 4:30pm. The meet starts promptly at 5:30pm. We do everything in our power to get a meet in on the designated day. If there is thunder or lighting and we can delay the start but still have the meet on the designated day, that is the best solution.

We have limited deck space for seating, but if you need a chair, please bring your tailgate style chair.  We will have a concession stand with grilled burgers and dogs, chips, candy and drinks.  Please bring small bills for your purchases.

We will pass out Roxboro Sharks swim caps to swimmers at the meet.  For those that registered prior to April 15, please stop by the Volunteer Check In table to collect your Roxboro Sharks t-shirts.

WE NEED YOU! Roxboro is a wonderful community. We are lucky to have a Board that fully supports our swim team. We have a great facility and fantastic lifeguards. We have a staff of 11 coaches that love this sport, this team and their jobs. I simply ask that if your swimmer is swimming the meet, please volunteer for a job to help our meet go safely and smoothly. There is no volunteer job that will prevent you from seeing your swimmer swim his/her events. Our Volunteer Coordinators are excited to help you with your volunteer roles. The Volunteer Coordinators work hard to make sure the jobs required to run a safe and efficient meet are filled with priority. You may be asked to move to a different position and I trust you will be open and flexible with their requests.

And, yes, we practice on meet days.
