Hello Sharks,

Thank you for your support and patience last night. I am aware that there was a lot of mixed communication coming from the other team that crossed over into our bullpens. A swim meet is a big night that takes months of planning and tons of resources. It is always the goal to get a full meet in on the designated date. Often we finish by 9pm, usually by 9:30pm, but there are occasions we will go later in the effort to get everyone a chance to swim their full lineup. If you ever have a question about what is happening on deck at our swim meets, ask me. I try to feed the information first to our coaches, and then to the Volunteer Coordinators. Ultimately, you will need to make the best decision for your family and we support that. Last night we finished the meet at just after 10pm, we celebrated our high school seniors, and then had a bonus free swim under the lights. Thank you Sharks!

The coaches have worked hard all season and now it is time to show them our appreciation. Kay Alexander will be collecting funds to share with our coaches at the end of the season. The coaches love handwritten cards and pictures from all the Sharks. We will have envelopes at practice on Friday morning and Monday morning to collect those cards and drawings for every coach.

Don’t forget, today is the deadline for signups for the timed finals ASA Championship meet at Georgia Tech. This is a firm deadline for signups on Wed June 21 at 11:30pm. Roxboro Sharks are scheduled to swim the morning session at GaTech on Thursday June 29. Our on-deck time could be as early as 7:00am. The meet will start at 9:30am and end at approximately 12noon. This is one of seven sessions our league hosts at GaTech. Parents and spectators will not sit with our Sharks in their bullpen. The coaches and I will be responsible for the swimmers getting to the designated ready area for every race and then getting them back to the bullpen after every race. Swimmers MUST be able to swim the full event without any assistance. You can select your swimmer’s individual events and pending entry numbers, Coach William will build relay lineups. Thursday June 22, 2023: Roxboro Sharks Lap-a-Thon to benefit the national organization Swim Across America and the fight against cancer. Please encourage your swimmer to ask for per lap pledges or flat donations for this worthy cause. It is amazing to me how much our Sharks improve in endurance, confidence, and skills after just 5 short weeks of swim team. Each age group will swim laps during their normal practice time. Even our 5 and 6 year olds will count their laps as every single lap can make a difference in this fight against cancer. We will have music to keep us going and fun prizes for everyone. Friday June 23, 2023: Last call for swimmer signups for meet#5, Roxboro at Wynterhall. Signups are due before 11:30pm.

Monday June 26, 2023: Our last regular morning practice of the season.

Tuesday June 27 and Wednesday June 28: morning practice for ONLY those swimmers signed up to swim the ASA Championship at GaTech.

8:30-9:15am: 6Us, 7/8s, and 9/10s.

Thursday June 29, 2023: ASA Championship at GaTech at 9:30am.

Thursday June 29, 2023: Roxboro Sharks Swim & Dive Season End Celebration 5-8pm. More information to follow.
