Hello Sharks!

Wow! What a great first week of practices for our 2025 Roxboro Sharks!

This Wednesday May 21 we will have Time Trials for all our Sharks! It is a great tool for Head Coach Eli and the other coaches to see our Sharks in action before our first swim meet on May 27. Please try to be there if possible. I will have treats for every Shark on Wednesday.

Our meet schedule is finalized and posted to our website. Our first meet is Tuesday May 27 at Roxboro. The RSVP or “Meet Entry” for swimmers and Job Signups for parents and families are open now. The RSVP for swimmers will close on Friday May 23 at 11:00pm. Our coaches work very hard to build a competitive lineup for our meets. Lineups are exchanged between teams days before the meet so that both teams can prepare for a safe and welcoming meet for all swimmers and families. This includes volunteers, lifeguards, concessions, parking, and many other behind the scenes preparations. Please be aware of the signup deadlines as we are not able to make exceptions and add swimmers after the deadline.

Swim meets take a lot of volunteers. Volunteer Coordinators, Kay Alexander and Alison Strok, will be on deck tomorrow Monday May 19 to help parents sign up for the meet. They will also answer questions about how swim meets work and about our many volunteer jobs. It is expected that every family will volunteer to work. It is a very simple equation, if your swimmer is swimming in a meet, you are volunteering at that meet. We have a lot of jobs and I am certain you will find one that fits your personality and comfort level.

I will be absent from the pool deck this Monday and Thursday. Coach Mary, my second daughter, graduates from high school this week and there are more than a few events for us to attend and celebrate her.
