Hello Sharks!

WHEW! We did it! We got our first meet of the season in the books and did it despite the cold and rainy weather. We are incredibly fortunate to have pool heaters and the water was a warm 82 degrees.  I am so proud of all our Sharks and their families for showing up with great attitudes last night. I even heard a few of our Sharks declare “this is so fun!!” We outscored our friends, the Georgetown Dolphins, to start our season with a win. Way to go Sharks!

Many thanks go all our volunteers! We can’t do these meets without every one of you. Big thanks to Greg Hearn and Doug Schutt for organizing the yummy pizza for the concession stand. Next week, burgers and dogs are the featured menu items.

Just a few reminders about swim meets. If you signed up to swim a meet but find out you are not going to make it, please do the right thing for your teammates and let Coach Eli and/or I know as soon as possible. We can usually substitute another Shark to swim in your place so that relays can be kept full, but we can only do that with advance notice to the other team and official.

All Sharks cheer for all swimmers. We never harass or mock another swimmer. We win with grace and we lose with dignity. If you can’t say something nice, please keep quiet.

A special note to our 6U’s Sharks. For our big Tuesday night meets, Sharks should be capable and ready to swim the full length of the pool without assistance. If you aren’t quite ready to do that, please stick with the 6U’s mini meets on Friday mornings during practice. Mini Meets were especially designed for our 6U’s. We run these during your normal Friday morning practice time. 6U Sharks will swim the 25free and the 25back with coaches in the water to help as needed. Everyone gets a ribbon and treats! Our first mini meet is this Friday, May 30.

RSVP’s and job signups are open for our next meet, Tuesday June 3 vs Hampton Hall. This is another home meet and we hope the weather will be a better friend to us. Swimmer RSVP’s are due by 11pm on Friday May 30.
