Roxboro Sharks / meet#2 tomorrow Tuesday June 2
Swim meet#2 tomorrow, Tuesday June 2. Murphey Candler Marlins at Roxboro Sharks.
For all swim meets, the parking lot is CLOSED. You will not be able to drive into the parking lot, even to drop off or pick up. Please do not leave your car in the lot earlier in the day, we use every single space for the meet and count on your cooperation to clear the lot. We have a volunteer parking coordinator and an off-duty Atlanta Police Officer to help with traffic. I have attached the parking map for your review. You can drive down to the pool as close as Lee Circle. There you can unload your swimmers and send them on down to the pool as you circle back up via Lee Circle and find a parking spot. Please be a good neighbor and don't block mailboxes and driveways. Please don't park on lawns. Please only park on the right side of Roxboro leading into the pool. We must keep one side clear so that emergency vehicles have access if needed.
What to pack for a swim meet? Bathing suit, goggles, dry clothes, dry towels, some favorite snacks, a few games or activities to keep swimmers busy, and sunscreen. Swim caps will be distributed to swimmers at the meet tomorrow (only one per season).
Sharks arrive at 4pm, our coaches will check in your swimmer and "mark them up" with their name and age, their events, heats and lanes. Then each swimmer will go and get settled in their bullpen area. At 4:30pm, warmups will begin. At 5:30pm, the meet will start.
What about the weather? We do our absolute best to get every meet started and finished on the day it is scheduled. Please be sure to sign up for the SwimTopia app alerts. We will use that communication tool to keep everyone updated on meet plans if they must be changed. If the weather turns bad, we will ask you to wait in your vehicle. Please don’t leave but wait for those alerts to keep you updated. Make the best decision for your family.
The Hays and Howell families are heading up the concessions for our meet tomorrow. We have burgers, dogs, chips, drinks, and candy treats. If you are a veggie or fruit eater, you may want to pack that. Please bring small bills or Venmo.
Kay Alexander and Alison Strok are our Volunteer Coordinators this season. They will be there to check you in and answer any questions about your volunteer job. We are still short some volunteers. Remember, if your swimmer is in the meet, the expectation is you will volunteer to work at the meet.
GO SHARKS!
