2017 RVA Sharks / the season in numbers
Dear Sharks,
What an amazing season! I like to count things so here is a brief recap of the season in numbers.
156 registered Sharks. That is a whole lot of swimmers and I am proud of every one of them. They did great this summer. We finished with a 3-2 record and received a great big 3rd place trophy for our division. Stop by SharkBites and take a look. While you are there, pick up any ribbons, awards or pictures from the season.
9 incredible coaches. Head Coach Jennifer Clifton, Asst Coach Morgan Gomez, Asst Coach Will Horlock, Jr Coach Jack Butler, Jr Coach Claire Denning, Jr Coach Jenya Eppstein, Jr Coach Olivia Hare, Jr Coach Carol Clair Horlock, and Jr Coach Bo Maiellaro. Each one of these incredible coaches made me look really good. They were on deck every day ready to coach our swimmers, set up or take down equipment, help one another, learn and teach new skills... they were awesome and I can't thank them enough.
2,943 laps for Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta. As a team for our annual CHOA lap-a-thon, we logged 2943 laps and raised $1000 for CHOA. Thank you.
900 munchkins, 25 large pizzas, 150 ring pops and 1000's of hot dogs and hamburgers, consumed by your swimmers. Sharks work hard and eat plenty! Swimming is great exercise and a lifelong skill. I am so proud and so thankful the RVA Board supports and offers a swim team opportunity to our children every summer.
43 Sharks went to Georgia Tech for the ASA Divisionals and 21 returned for the ASA Championship Finals. These swimmers deserve special congratulations for not only swimming in the "big pool" but for swimming FAST in the "big pool".
Countless parent volunteers served at before, during and after every meet and we could not have done it without them. A very special thanks to those super volunteers that worked the statistics table, volunteer check in, parking lot coordinator, announcer, concession stand logistics, pop-up tent transport, and mini-meet coordinator. It takes a whole lot of volunteers to deliver a safe, fun and rewarding swim team season. You did it! Thank you.
5 special little girls and 1 fantastic husband. I would not have been able to do this job if it weren't for the support of my family. They put up with a dirty house and more than enough fast food dinners from May 15 to July 1. They logged as many hours as I did for swim team and I am forever grateful to them.
Infinite gratitude from 1 Team Manager. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My first season as Swim Team Manager and you all made it an incredible experience that I will never forget. Thank you for the incredibly generous end of season gift. And thank you most of all for this opportunity to serve you and your swimmers.
With deepest gratitude,
Jennifer Entrekin
