Roxboro Sharks swim at Village Mill tomorrow!
Hello Sharks!
Tomorrow, Tuesday June 20, we swim our fourth dual meet of the season at Village Mill in Dunwoody. 4726 Olde Village Lane, Dunwoody 30338. Like the majority of neighborhood swim clubs, they have very limited parking and encourage us to carpool if possible. Please obey any posted no parking signs, please do not block driveways and please be courteous, safe and friendly drivers. Thank you! Our arrive time is 4pm and the meet starts at 5:30pm. They have a concession stand with burgers, hotdogs, grilled chicken, and drinks. Please bring small bills. The weather is looking iffy right now so make sure you have a good plan to wait out the weather. We will use the text alert feature to keep you updated if the weather interferes. Please do not leave Village Mill until we have officially canceled the meet due to weather. Hang out in your car, take a nap, play cards, sing songs, just please don't leave.
Volunteers are still needed for this meet. I have said it and I will keep saying it, every meet requires a lot of volunteers to run safely and smoothly. If you have a child swimming in this meet, you are expected and required to volunteer. You agreed to those conditions when you registered your swimmer. Please be a part of the Roxboro community and do your part. We have many families that are working two, three and even four shifts a meet and this will not continue. The volunteers jobs are designed so that every family would only need to volunteer for one shift. If you aren't sure how to do any of the jobs, we have full descriptions on the roxborovalley.com website and I am more than happy to help you learn how to do any of the jobs. If our gentle policy of "if your child is swimming you will volunteer" does not work, the alternative is "if you don't volunteer your child will not swim". Personally, I like the first option.
Friday, June 23 is our Lap-A-Thon for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Please see me on deck for a pledge form. 100% of our proceeds will go directly to CHOA. The lap-a-thon is for all Sharks ages 7 and up during their regularly scheduled morning practice on Friday.
Our 6 and unders will have their last mini meet of the season on Friday, June 23 at 11am. I hope you and your young swimmers have enjoyed the opportunity to have a meet experience in the smaller setting and in the comfort of our home pool. My own 6U has come a long way since May and she is excited to be competing in the big meets as a result of the fun, safe and encouraging mini meet settings.
Cheap Eats will be on the grill on Wednesday June 21 and Friday June 23, 11:15am to 12:45pm. $2 Hotdog meals. Many thanks to Nina Vestal for grilling some yummy hotdogs for our hungry swimmers.
RSVP's for the ASA Divisionals meet at Georgia Tech have closed. This is the one meet where our swimmers can request events if they choose. Please send an email directly to Coach Jennifer no later than Wednesday June 21 if you have any requests. [email protected]
Please RSVP and Volunteer now for our last dual meet on Monday, June 26 at 6pm at Roxboro. And make note of the unusual date and start time- Monday at 6pm. RSVP's will close this Friday June 23 at 5pm. We will celebrate after the meet with a free swim and pizza.
Season End Celebration is Thursday, June 29 at 6:30pm at Roxboro. The Kona Ice truck will be there. Music, fun, recognition for our coaches, and awards for our Sharks. Please plan to attend. If you miss the celebration, your swimmer's ribbons and/or awards will be available for pickup at SharkBites for the remainder of the summer. I have added an RSVP for this event just so we can have an estimated head count.
Any questions, please let me know.
Thank you,
Jennifer Entrekin
Sharks Team Manager
