RVA Sharks / RSVP, Volunteer, Ribbons, and much more
Hello Sharks!
There is a lot happening with swim team so please read this email entirely.
TUESDAY JUNE 6 AWAY MEET: Our next meet is at Brittany Club, 3359 Breton Circle, Atlanta 30319. Start time is 5:30pm, arrival time is 4:30pm. They have a concession stand similar to ours, small bills are appreciated. We will bring our blue popup tents for shade. More information to come.
RSVP for a meet: RSVP's for the upcoming meet must be done by Friday at 5pm. No exceptions. Please help Coach Jennifer build the strongest lineup for upcoming meets and rsvp on time. If you don't rsvp, you swimmer(s) won't be included on the meet lineup. How to rsvp? Easy, just login to the roxborosharks.swim-team.us site and go to the calendar. Click on the date of the upcoming event, click on RSVP and choose yes or no for your swimmer(s) and then click on save. If you are using your smartphone: login, go to swim meets in the drop down menu, click the meet, click yes or no for your swimmer(s) and save.Smartphone users will most likely not get the popup that confirms your save, to be sure it did save, go back to swim meets, click on the meet, click on rsvp and it should show your updated confirmation of yes or no per swimmer.
VOLUNTEER for a meet: If your child(ren) is swimming in a meet, you need to volunteer for at least one shift at that meet. Home and Away meets need a lot of Roxboro volunteers. The shifts are designed to last about 1.5 hours or half of the meet. Please do this at the same time you rsvp your swimmer. Same way, click on the event, click on volunteer and choose a job and save. When you registered your swimmer, you agreed to volunteer. Thank you!
MINI-MEET: Mini-meets are held on Fridays at 11am. Mini-meets are just for our 6&under swimmers. Many 6&U's aren't quite ready for the big Tuesday night dual meets. A mini-meet is a lot of three lane races of one lap of freestyle and a lot of three lane races of one lap of backstroke. Every 6&U swimmer that participates gets a ribbon and a treat. No rsvp's needed, just show up for the usual 6&U swim practice on Friday at 11am. Parents of these swimmers will also volunteer. You will learn how to time a race, document the finish and label a ribbon. Think of this as your practice for when you volunteer for a big Tuesday night dual meet.
RIBBONS: We hand out ribbons at the end of each age group practice session on Wednesday mornings. If you miss a Wednesday don't worry, you can pick up your ribbons at the next Wednesday practice or anytime SharkBites is open. We have identified a few problems with the ribbons from our meet on Tuesday May 30. If you feel like you are missing a ribbon or got a ribbon in error, please let Coach Jennifer Clifton or Team Manager Jennifer Entrekin know and we will correct it.
T-SHIRTS: We still have a few t-shirts to be picked up. Please see Jennifer Entrekin at practice to get your team shirt.
PICTURES: Lots of pictures from our first meet have been uploaded to the website. Take a look at our Sharks in action.
SHARKPUPS: Beginning Monday, June 5 we will have SharkPups swim sessions for 3&4 year olds only. These sessions are $10 each and payment can be made by cash or card on deck each day. 11:30am to noon, Monday-Thursday. No rsvp or signup required. These sessions are led by our Sharks coaches and they are just for our little ones. What better reward for a little sibling that has been patiently watching big sister or big brother at practice.
UPCOMING DATES: Mark your calendars, we will have Team Photos on Wednesday June 14 at 9:00am. And our Lap-A-Thon for CHOA will be on Friday, June 23 during morning practice. More details to come.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you,
Jennifer Entrekin
Sharks Swim Team Manager
