RVA Sharks / week of May 22
RVA Sharks,
WOW! What an incredible turnout for our first practice sessions last week. It was great to see so many familiar faces and even more new faces. I am excited for our season and I hope you are too. We will have afternoon practices this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We take Thursday off and resume with morning practices on Friday. Please check the website calendar for specific age group times.
Swimsuits have been delivered. Please look for me on the deck to pick yours up if you ordered back in March. If you did not get a chance to order in March, it is not too late. Team suits are optional but many of our swimmers like them and it helps us look like and feel like a team. You can check the roxborovalley.com website for details if you would like to order one.
Looking at the weather for this week... it is iffy at best. The late afternoon thunderstorms can mess up a good practice session. It is a good idea to check the weather before you head out of the house for practice. I will not have enough time to cancel practice and send out notifications based on pop-up thunderstorms. We will follow the standard safety protocol of a 30 minute wait from the time we hear thunder before we get back in the pool. In every case, I urge you to use your best judgment for you and your swimmers. It can be frustrating or even scary for our younger swimmers when we have bad weather at the pool. Skipping a practice is not the worst thing that can happen.
As always, if you have any questions, look for me at the pool and I will be happy to help. Or send me an email anytime.
